Students Coaching with the Pros

Let your students experience the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra both inside and outside of the concert hall!  An exciting program for instrumental students, Musical Mentors (formerly known as the “Masterclass” program) allows visiting groups to book workshops with BSO musicians in tandem with tickets to a BSO performance. 

Providing students personal interaction with the world-class BSO musicians,  the Musical Mentors program offers a variety of BSO-led educational workshops for students in middle school through college including:

  • Full orchestra/band coachings
  • Instrumental sectionals (strings/wind/brass/percussion)
  • Solo performer masterclasses

The inspiring classes can be tailored to the individual needs of groups in order to provide students with the most relevant musical, technical, and historical performance guidance.  As the National Association for Music Education says of the program, "We consider the Baltimore Symphony Musical Mentors program a wonderful adjunct to a school music program.”

  • Rates:  Please contact Hana Morford for rates.  Discounts given to groups booking 3 or more classes.
  • How to book BSO Musical Mentors:   First contact Adeline Sutter in the BSO Group Sales Department at 410.783.8170 or asutter@BSOmusic.org.  Once your group has arranged for group tickets to a BSO performance, the BSO Education department will help arrange your Musical Mentor class(es).
