    Music Educators Academy

    June 18-25, 2016

    The Academy Music Educators Track inspires music educators as well as those pursuing a career in music education. This program immerses participants in the world of the orchestra by playing, learning and performing side-by-side with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. An intensive program offering three graduate credits through the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, this track is designed to invigorate music educators by focusing on improving musicianship, performance techniques, conducting skills, improvisation, arranging, practice techniques and ensemble skills.

    • Program evaluation

    OrchKids CEME

    Join the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids staff, administration, students, parents and teachers as they prepare for a string of concerts during the world’s largest free arts festival, Artscape, in the heart of Baltimore, Maryland.

    Within this results driven seminar, participants will study concert production techniques that will yield engaging, pedagogically sound and extremely entertaining concerts in the style of el Sistema.

    BSO Academy Internship

    Learn first-hand how the Academy runs by becoming a BSO Academy intern. Internship runs May through July, and compensation includes a modest stipend, free parking, complimentary BSO tickets, and the opportunity to attend rehearsals and classes.

    Montgomery County Professional Development Day

    As part of the OrchLab program, this professional development day is led by BSO musicians and open to all MCPS music educators.

    MCPS awards appropriate credit hours toward mandatory advanced professional certificate renewal for music educators.

Educators will work together in small teams with BSO Staff, BSO Education Conductor and AEMS staff to create Music, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts arts-integrated lesson plan seeds and listening guides.
