Teacher Guides for Midweek Concerts

The BSO, in collaboration with Arts Education Maryland Schools Alliance (AEMS), provides tailor-made teacher resources for each Midweek Concert program. These powerful resources enable teachers to provide a deeper learning opportunity for students, linking each concert to essential curriculum subjects.

Call for Lesson Plan Writers

The BSO seeks innovative educators with a specialty in arts integration to write lesson plans for the upcoming 2014-15 Midweek Concert series.  Educators will work together in small teams with BSO Staff, BSO Education Conductor, and AEMS staff to create Music, Science, History and Language Arts arts-integrated lesson plan seeds and listening guides. Click here to find out more.

DIGITAL CD's
Free digital cd's available for each Midweek Concert. Please contact the BSO Education Dept. at education@bsomusic.org to receive the link for these resources. Teachers' Guides Digital CDs are provided with generous support from the Baltimore Symphony Associates. Through active listening prior to the concert, students will discover their own magical relationship to this music and create a meaningful and relevant connection to the concert experience.

Digital CD's for the 2014-15 Midweek Concert Series will be available in September, 2014.

STEAM Activated, Arts Integrated

Teachers' Resource Guides were thoughtfully designed by a hand-picked team of teachers from a range of counties across Maryland. Inside each guide you will find a variety of lesson plan seeds and sprouts, STEAM activities, and a comprehensive list of resources for curricular connections to science, music, and language arts. The Lesson Plan Seeds and Sprouts are built upon the STEAM Initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and immersed in an Arts Integrated format.

We worked closely with members of the BSO Science Advisory team, to strengthen the STEAM connections.
