The Arts Administrator Track offers orchestra administrators a “behind-the-scenes” look at the unique Academy Week program with insights into the program’s history, funding and logistical strategies, as well as integration of both the amateur and professional musician mindsets. In addition to attending informational seminars every day, administrator participants have the opportunity to observe all Academy classes, lectures and rehearsals. Instrumental administrator participants can also elect to take private lessons, play in the BSO Academy Side by Side Orchestra, play chamber music and/or play in the Academy Chamber Orchestra for an extra fee (contingent on space availability).
In addition to observing all Academy Week classes and rehearsals, administrator participants also attend daily seminars covering topics such as:
- History of the Academy
- Budget development
- Funding strategies
- Non-professional mindset
- Professional musician mindset
- Timeline of planning the Academy
- Running the Academy Week
- Program evaluation

Refund Policy: All fees (i.e. application fee, deposit, tuition, parking, private lessons, etc.) are NON-REFUNDABLE. We highly encourage participants to insure Academy fees and payments immediately following tuition payment. According to the Travel Guard regulations, trip insurance is only available to participants whose primary residence is at least 100 miles from Baltimore.
