    Music Educators Academy

    The Academy Music Educators Track inspires music educators as well as those pursuing a career in music education. This program immerses participants in the world of the orchestra by playing, learning, and performing side-by-side with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. An intensive program offering three graduate credits through the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, this track is designed to invigorate music educators by focusing on improving musicianship, performance techniques, conducting skills, improvisation, arranging, practice techniques and ensemble skills.

    Violin Masterclass 390X390

    Music Educator Track:
    Participate in a series of conducting workshops culminating in the opportunity to conduct the BSO

    The eight-day Music Educators Academy runs concurrently with the BSO Academy for amateur musicians, giving the music educators an expanded palette of opportunities for ensemble playing and musical collaboration.

    The Music Educator Academy includes:

    • Side-by-side rehearsals and a concert with the BSO
    • Courses led by expert faculty from UMBC
    • Conducting workshops culminating in the opportunity to conduct the BSO
    • Secondary instrument classes
    • BSO-led workshops with topics including creativity and visualization, orchestral techniques and respiratory function
    • A BSO faculty concert
    • Meals with the BSO
    • Recordings of final performances
