    BSYO

    Launched in 2012, the BSYO comprises three orchestral ensembles of 210 of the Mid-Atlantic Region’s most talented musicians. The BSYO serves as ensemble-in-residence at the state-of-the-art George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Towson, Maryland.

    In addition to weekly rehearsals, BSYO students have opportunities to collaborate with and be mentored by BSO musicians and Maestra Marin Alsop, including:

    • Side-by-Side rehearsals with the BSO
    • Coaching from BSO musicians
    • Master classes with world-renowned guest artists
    • Access to exclusive BSYO events at the Meyerhoff
    • Intensive chamber music classes and performance opportunities

    OrchKids

    Under Baltimore Symphony Orchestra music director Marin Alsop’s artistic leadership and direction, OrchKids is the cornerstone of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s efforts to expand the Orchestra’s relevance within the broad and diverse Baltimore community.

    Currently we work with 5 public elementary schools in Baltimore City serving close to 750 children from Pre-Kindergarten through the 8th grade.

    The BSO partners with Baltimore School for the Arts, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Howard County Gifted and Talented Orchestra to rehearse and perform side by side with the BSO.

    OrchLab Balio

    OrchLab

    In partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), the BSO's OrchLab program works to enrich the instrumental music curriculum, enhance student performance skills and offer professional development to school music educators. The OrchLab program is delivered at no cost at selected elementary, middle and high schools serving high numbers of students in poverty.

  • Musical Mentors

    Let your students experience the BSO both inside and outside of the concert hall! An exciting program for instrumental students, BSO Musical Mentors invites visiting groups to book BSO concert tickets in tandem with workshops with BSO musicians.

    Types of workshops include:

    • Full orchestra/band coachings
    • Solo performer masterclasses
    • Instrumental sectionals (strings/wind/brass/percussion)
    • Chamber music Coachings

    Location

    Classes take place at either the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, home of the BSO, or the historic Engineer’s Club in Baltimore, MD.

    Rates

    $600/class

    Discounts given to groups booking 3 or more classes on the same visit
