Elgar's ever-mysterious Enigma Variations never ceases to enchant. Elgar dedicated this piece to "my friends pictured within," alluding to the fact that each variation serves as a musical portrait of a different acquaintance. Who are the characters that form the pieces to Elgar's puzzle? In addition, Elgar offers a secondary, more mysterious puzzle. Can you decipher the hidden musical theme upon which all of the variations are based?
