Sustain the BSO's inspiring Education and Outreach programs!
The BSO's recent appearances at Carnegie Hall received critical acclaim in national newspapers and media, securing the BSO's significance as one of the industry's top American Orchestras. The Orchestra continues to raise its profile by featuring rising young talent and making an impact on the classical recording world.
Now in its third year, the ground breaking OrchKids initiative for "at-risk" youth is extending its reach 250 pre-K through third grades through students with an extensive music curriculum, tutoring, and other musical mentorship opportunities. The BSO also provides educational programs that inspire 55,000 students annually.
Marin Alsop's revolutionary vision of expanding the Orchestra's relevance within the community is being realized through programs such as the BSO Academy and Rusty Musicians. These programs reach new audiences by reconnecting amateur musicians with their musical passion through interaction with professional BSO musicians. Our accessible ticket pricing initiative has made the BSO one of the area's most affordable entertainment options, and the Off the Cuff series has taken classical music appreciation to a whole new level by engaging and educating new audiences.
