Marin Alsop, conductor
John Adams -  Fearful Symmetries
Mahler -  Symphony No. 5
Multimedia

In a program marking the Maestra’s inaugural concerts as Music Director, the BSO opens its 2007-08 season with two monumental works for orchestra. Turbulent and angry, peaceful and plaintive in turn, the emotional scope and breadth of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony will leave you transformed. Composed nearly a century later, the performance also showcases John Adams’ Fearful Symmetries, a pulsating aerobic work full of kinetic energy.
