Violin prodigy Stefan Jackiw returns to the BSO for one of the most popular violin concertos of all time. John Adams’ dramatic symphony from his opera Doctor Atomic captures the suspenseful, momentous events at Los Alamos on the eve of the creation of the atomic bomb. To celebrate the release of the Orchestra’s second album in its Dvorák recording cycle for Naxos, the program closes with a reprise of the composer’s popular “New World” Symphony.
