A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra
Piano Concerto No. 1
The season’s celebration of youth comes to a conclusion with Benjamin Britten’s delightfully infectious tour of the orchestra, contrasted with the First Piano Concerto by Johannes Brahms (written when he was 25). In the hands of piano great Emanuel Ax expect a program of thrilling virtuosity and music-making. Marin Alsop also introduces a new work by the Argentine-American composer Osvaldo Golijov.
