Copland -  Appalachian Spring
Copland -  Old American Songs

Gershwin -  An American in Paris
Multimedia

Copland’s distinctive and highly appealing “American” sound emerges every time we hear the simple melodies of Appalachian Spring and the Old American Songs. A leading champion of American music, Marin Alsop introduces the romantic sounds of the early 20th-century composer Edward Collins before the infectious jazz rhythms of George Gershwin’s signature orchestral showpiece,   An American in Paris, ends the program in sassy style.
