After his appearance sparked rave reviews last season, Yan Pascal Tortelier returns to the Music Center at Strathmore to conduct one of the most influential, enduring and celebrated of all classical masterworks, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique. Altogether new in its time, Symphonie fantastique describes the tortured dreams of a sensitive artist in lovesick despair, who takes an overdose of opium and becomes haunted by visions of an unattainable woman. Also on the program is Richard Yardumian’s Armenian Suite, echoing influences of Armenian folk songs, and young piano sensation Yuja Wang performing Prokofiev’s first piano concerto.

Join us before the concert for Music Notes LIVE! with WETA's David Ginder beginning at 7 pm in the Music Center at Strathmore. The program is free to all ticket holders. No reservations are required but capacity is limited, so patrons will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The concert will end at approximately 9:45 p.m.
