This program opens with two seminal works by 20th-century giants Samuel Barber and Sergei Prokefiev. The second half features Beethoven’s Third Symphony, “Eroica,” written as a musical monument to heroic deeds.

Argentine pianist Ingrid Fliter makes her BSO debut performing Chopin’s earliest masterpiece. Tchaikovsky’s joyous Second Symphony celebrates his homeland in an intricate and colorful work based on Ukrainian folk tunes.
