Music Notes Live! is hosted by David Ginder, whose day-job is weekday morning host on Classical WETA 90.9 FM.  David's passion for music is infectious both on the air and prior to the BSO's Classical Thursdays concerts at Strathmore.  He believes there really needs to be very little talking about music, but admits it's helpful-as long as the talking part is shorter than the music.  The point, says David, is enhancement.  Why is playing the Mahler and Bernstein First Symphonies on the same concert such a great idea?  Why have that odd clarinet-and-tympani opening to a symphony?  Why did she call it "Concerto for Orchestra"?  Why is it so important for major orchestras to play Haydn?  And David is quick to point out that his Music Notes Live! are richly illustrated with musical examples, because, ultimately, the music says almost everything that needs to be said.
