Join the BSO and Music Director Marin Alsop in a dazzling 75th anniversary celebration of the great Porgy and Bess. George Gershwin’s chronicle of lost love on Catfish Row will be performed in a one-hour concert suite with sopranos Indira Mahajan and Alison Buchanan, bass-baritone Derrick Parker and tenor Chauncey Packer. Experience Gershwin’s classic melodies at their very best with favorites such as “Summertime,” “A Woman is a Sometime Thing” and “It Ain’t Necessarily So.” The program also includes Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Tchaikovsky’s ever-romantic Romeo and Juliet Overture.
