Marin Alsop opens the season in the "Twilight of the Gods," ascending skyward for the concluding moments of Wagner's epic
"Ring" as the heavens erupt into all-consuming flames. The journey accelerates into space with the percussion-inspired sound
world of Daugherty's
UFO, a modern counterpart to Holst's greatest masterpiece,
The Planets. The program is enhanced by dramatic lighting and theatrical effects.
