Marin Alsop opens a season celebrating the life and music of Gustav Mahler with the legendary conductor/composer’s arrangement of music from Bach’s orchestral suites including the famous “Air on a G String” , followed by one of his most powerful symphonies. With optimism and darkness, harmony and dissonance, his grand Seventh Symphony travels through an eerie nightfall into the exuberant starkness of daylight.
