This program opens with two seminal works by 20th century giants, Samuel Barber and Sergei Prokofiev. The second half features Beethoven’s Third Symphony, “Eroica,” written as a musical monument to heroic deeds. Following the BSO’s performances at the Meyerhoff, the Orchestra travels to Carnegie Hall for an encore performance.
