2014 marks the centennial of the appearance of the Little Tramp on the silver screen. To celebrate, the BSO presents a pairing of classic 1920’s Charlie Chaplin films. One of his final short subjects, The Idle Class, features Chaplin in a dual role. And Charlie adopts the five-year-old Jackie Coogan in his first feature, The Kid. A film with a smile. And perhaps a tear. Marin Alsop conducts the music from Chaplin’s films, written nearly 50 years after their release.
