Tuition: See Fees and Policies
CORE PROGRAM COMPONENTS INCLUDE:
Orchestra:
BSO Faculty Classes: Classes and seminars on interesting topics will be presented by BSO faculty throughout the week. You may see a sample listing of these classes on our Recent Course Offerings page.
Enrichment Classes: Various enrichment classes are also presented by guest lecturers. Past course offerings include lectures on body balance and alignment, physical therapy, performance anxiety, musical insights on the week's repertoire, and the neurobiology of music.
Individual Practice: Space is available for participants to practice on their own during their free time throughout the week.
ADD-ON PROGRAM ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
*Chamber Music: Participants rehearse and perform in side-by-side chamber groups with Baltimore Symphony members. Chamber groups must be quartets or larger. All applicants are welcome to participate in Chamber Music. Please note that participants may elect to play in either Chamber Music or Chamber Orchestra but are unable to participate in both programs.
*NEW TO 2013: ACADEMY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (ACO): Participants play chamber orchestra works in a smaller, select ensemble led by a BSO assistant conductor and coached by BSO members. 2013 ACO repertoire is yet to be determined, but will include works by composers such as Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven.
As openings are limited, participants must apply for faculty recommendation to ACO at the same time they submit their initial Academy application. All are encouraged to apply, but admission is not guaranteed. Please note that participants selected for ACO will not be able to participate in Chamber Music. However, participants not selected for ACO will be placed in the Chamber Music program.
*Private Lessons: Participants may take private lessons with a BSO member of their choice. Participants may choose to work on solo, chamber or orchestral repertoire. Some participants choose to have several lessons with different faculty members.
*Additional fee required for participation
