Designed for adult amateur musicians, the BSO Academy is an immersive week of playing and learning side-by-side with the members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Marin Alsop.

New to 2013: Would you also like to be considered for admission into the Academy Chamber Orchestra? A small, select ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra will be led by a BSO assistant conductor and coached by BSO member for an additional fee of $500. Release of Liability
Registration to participate in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Summer Academy constitutes a contract. In consideration for participation in the program, participant agrees to assume all risk of personal injury, loss or damage to property. Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Inc. may revoke the privilege to participate in this adult education program for misconduct, nuisance caused by participant, or any other reason deemed sufficient by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The participant also agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Inc. and their respective directors, officers, agents and employees from any and all claims, actions, injuries or damages which may be sustained or caused by participant in connection with these activities. All film or digital files created for advertising are the sole property of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Inc. and may not be used without written consent.

This release is for Baltimore Symphony, Inc. use only and does not grant permission for program participants to use photographs or recorded media of other participants, Baltimore Symphony, Inc. events, employees or concert hall property, whether for semi-public/public consumption or personal gain. Participants are responsible for their comments and information posted to the World Wide Web, as provided by law.


Baltimore Symphony Academy Rules of Conduct
It is the BSO’s policy that certain rules and regulations regarding personal conduct are necessary for the benefit and for the safety of all.
Conduct that, in the sole judgment of the BSO, interferes with the smooth functioning of the BSO Academy, discredits the BSO, or causes harm to any employee of the BSO will be cause for immediate dismissal from the BSO Academy:
The following list of infractions to this code will be cause for immediate dismissal from the Academy.

  1. Engaging in any form of Sexual Harassment or other prohibited harassment, as determined by the BSO in its sole discretion. (Sexual Harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.)
  2. Using abusive, disrespectful, or profane language in any venue at which the BSO Academy courses, rehearsals, lessons and chamber music are scheduled.
  3. Physical assault, threatening or provoking physical assault on employees or others on BSO property or at a BSO event such as the Academy. This includes: fighting, horseplay, or roughhousing on BSO property.
  4. Use, consumption, possession or being under the influence of illicit drugs on BSO property or at a BSO event.
  5. Distributing, selling, or discussing illegal drugs on BSO property, while at a BSO event.
  6. Carrying dangerous materials, explosives, or weapons of any type on BSO premises, to a BSO event, or threatening others with a weapon(s).
  7. Stealing, defacing, or misusing BSO property or the property of BSO Employees or other participants.
  8. Smoking other than in designated areas.
