The mission of the BSYO is to inspire and nurture the talents of students, from young children to college age, through a continuum of extraordinary opportunities in music – including exceptional orchestral training, the pursuit of artistic excellence, and sharing music at the highest level through public performance – yielding lifelong rewards of discipline, perseverance, responsibility to a common endeavor, and a connection to great music.

The organizational vision is that the BSYO will be a leading catalyst in the development of youth through music; awakening within the young people of Greater Baltimore the hope to achieve their dreams and the courage to change their world.
