Musical Mystery Tour featuring BSO players
Can music change how your body feels? Ever feel a euphonium rumble your tummy, or have a drum make your heart jump? Come hear your favorite BSO musicians introduce you to themselves, their instruments, and show how music can tell a story. You'll even learn how to tell a story using only sounds! Join in the fun as you are introduced to the story of "Once Upon a Tune" an original story written by BSO violinist Ellen Pendleton Troyer, with music by BSO bassist Jonathan Jensen. You'll meet young Melody as she journeys along, picking up harmony, rhythm, and counterpoint, on her way to becoming a grown up composition.
As part of Community Concerts at Second, the board of Second Presbyterian Church commissioned Ellen and Jonathan to create a program for their annual education concert on Sunday March 1st at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free. It is designed for children ages 4-12. The program, entitled "Musical Mystery Tour," also features BSO musicians Michael Lisicky and Chris Williams. Also performing is Jennifer Jester, the manager of Community Concerts at Second.
