Ellen Connors is joining the BSO as guest second bassoonist for the 2012-13 season. She is the Principal bassoonist of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, as well as the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, Ohio.
Connors completed her undergraduate studies at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University as a student of Benjamin Kamins. She went on to receive her Master of Music from Yale in 2009 where she was a student of Frank Morelli. She is also the winner of a Watson Fellowship, which sent her through Asia and Europe for a year studying folk music.
Connors has spent summers performing with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, the Lucerne Festival Academy and as a fellow at Tanglewood and Aspen. In 2012 she was principal bassoonist of the newly-formed Artosphere Festival Orchestra. Connors has concertized in Italy, Switzerland, China, South Korea, the Dominican Republic and throughout the U.S. In her free time she enjoys cooking, photography and the great outdoors.
