If I had not decided to pursue a career as a professional musician, I would have chosen to become…an architect.

In the car, I normally listen to…NPR.

Currently my ring tone is…chirping birds.

The last two books I read were…Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and The Omnivore’s Dilemma.

I think most people would be surprised to know that…I started out as an usher for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra when I was a student at Peabody.

As crazy as it sounds…I have moved every summer for the past 10 years.

The non-musical accomplishment that I am most proud of would be…learning how to cook.

To prepare for a performance…I try to practice the majority of the music during the summer, when I have time to learn a lot of repertoire.  Right before concerts, I like to calm my mind with positive words or ideas.

In addition to the flute, I also play…piano.  As a child, I took violin lessons for 5 years and cello lessons for 2 years.

My most embarrassing musical moment happened…in 2nd grade when I wanted to play my violin for my class.  While packing up my instrument the night before, I forgot to put my bow in the case and ended up plucking tunes for the class the next day!

If I could spend a day with any composer…I would choose Charles Ives.
