Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Classical Kids LIVE! Present Mozart’s Magnificent Voyage, January 30

Theater and music bring Mozart’s musical genius to life

Baltimore, Md. (December 11, 2009) – The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and theater company Classical Kids LIVE! will collaborate in Mozart’s Magnificent Voyage as part of the BSO Family Concert Series on Saturday, January 30 at 11 a.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Described by the Boston Herald as being “far and away the best for introducing children to classical music,” Classical Kids LIVE! will give a theatrical presentation of Mozart’s life while the BSO performs more than 20 excerpts of music from several of Mozart’s most famous works, including Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and The Magic Flute. Told through the eyes of Mozart’s young son Karl, the actors will explore Mozart’s childhood, his pressures as a child prodigy and composer and his passion for music, while examining the familial bonds that Mozart and Karl share. Please see below for complete concert details.

The BSO encourages patrons to arrive early to participate in the BSO Family Fun Zone, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Meyerhoff lobby. Children and their families can take advantage of numerous free, age-appropriate activities, including Port Discovery Children’s Museum’s interactive World Rhythm Drum Circus, the Maryland Zoo’s ZOOmobile, an instrument petting zoo and face painting.
