The riddle that Edward Elgar built into his Enigma Variations remains unsolved, but no answer is needed to appreciate the spirit and inventions of Elgar’s masterpiece. Scottish solo percussionist Colin Currie brings power and musicality to James MacMillan’s new concerto in this all-British program.
