Baltimore native, Patricia Hengen (Mom) is thrilled to be part of Hairspray: In Concert with the BSO. No stranger to opera, musical theater, oratorio and song, Patricia has performed with companies such as Annapolis Opera, the City Choir of Washington, Shenandoah Summer Music Theater, Central Maryland Chorale and Spotlighters' Theater. Some roles include Tammy/Beatnik Chick in Hairspray (Amber u/s), Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress, Le Prince Charmant in Cendrillon, Emma Carew in Jekyll and Hyde, Fantine (u/s) in Les Miserables and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro. Some choral works include Verdi Requiem, Carmina Burana, Faure Requiem, Bernstein Chicester Psalms, Britten Rejoice in the Lamb, Durufle Requiem, Handel Messiah and Poulenc Gloria. Patricia performed in the world premiere of Three Poems of George Herbert and Tolstoy's Creed by the late Sir John Tavener. Patricia has placed 1st in both Music Theater and Classical Categories in Maryland State, Virginia State, and in the Mid-Atlantic Regional NATS Competition. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory, and is a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts.
