Prokofiev’s sumptuous ballet music underscores the struggles of young love amidst violent tragedy like no other representation of Shakespeare’s classic play. Lush, romantic melodies contrast with music of the warring Montagues and Capulets. Edward Berkeley, who triumphed with his adaptation of A Midsummer’s Night Dream for the BSO, returns with a new concert adaptation of this love story and will stage direct an ensemble of actors with orchestra.

Presented in association with Folger Theatre.
