Please join us on March 16 for an insider’s evening celebrating the surprising connection between Sergei Rachmaninoff and Baltimore’s own Edgar Allen Poe.

We’ll kick off with a cocktail reception featuring Poe Baltimore/Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum Executive Director, Enrica Jang, as she presents a short history of Edgar Allan Poe’s last poem “The Bells”― from the tragic events that may have inspired the poem to its publication after the poet’s mysterious death in 1849.

Following the presentation, you will have the opportunity to sit in on the BSO’s and Cathedral Choral Society’s rehearsal of “The Bells,” a composition inspired by a Russian translation of Poe’s poem, and what is largely considered to be Rachmaninoff’s secular choral masterpiece.
