Tuition, Fees and Important Dates

Nonrefundable application fee of $75 is due with application form

The following instrument needs have been met as of February 6, 2023. If you play the following instrument and are interested in participating in Academy Week, please email Education@bsomusic.org before filling out an application: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, trumpet.

Acceptance Process and Payment schedule:

All applications will be considered equally before Jan 15.
Notification of acceptance will be made on Jan 18, 2023. After that date, any remaining vacancies will be filled on a rolling basis as quickly as possible.

The Academy Campus

All Academy activities will take place at JMSH and in the surrounding area for the entirety of the Academy Week (Saturday, June 24 – Saturday, July 1). All Orchestral Program rehearsals with the BSO are held at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

Financial Assistance


A limited amount of funding is available for participants that belong to historically underrepresented communities in classical music and those who demonstrate financial need due to extreme circumstances or other financial hardship. Financial assistance may also be available to fill program instrumental needs.

Refund Policy


BSO Academy Week tuition and fees are non-refundable except in the case of a medical emergency or other extreme circumstance as determined by the BSO Director of Education & Community Engagement. Please note that the $75 application fee is non-refundable. No reduction in fees can be made for late arrival or early departure.


Continuing Professional Development Credit for The BSO Academy

We are pleased to announce that the BSO Academy has been approved by the Maryland State Department of Education to offer CPD Credit to all teachers.

  • Continuing Professional Development is a critical tool for all teachers and even required by some administrations.
  • The BSO Academy is thrilled to be able to offer up to 3 CPD credits to teachers participating in the program.
  • We are committed to making this program accessible to anyone who desires to be part of the BSO Academy. We are also committed to equipping and inspiring classroom music teachers. A special discounted rate is offered for teacher that are participating in the Academy for CPD credit
