As the largest cultural institution in Maryland, the BSO is internationally recognized and locally admired for its innovation, performances and recordings, and educational community initiatives including OrchKids. Launched in 2008, OrchKids provides children educational resources and fosters social change through the power of music in some of Baltimore’s under-resourced communities.

JOB SUMMARY
The Email Marketing Coordinator manages the production and delivery of the BSO’s email campaigns across multiple departments. We are looking for a goal-driven Email Coordinator to assist in the development and implementation of email marketing campaigns. Being part of a professional and dynamic marketing team, you will help optimize consumer targeting and email campaigns that result in conversions.

Your main responsibilities will include the execution of email marketing campaigns and communicating with email stakeholders, as well as assistance in planning future campaigns. The ideal candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in juggling multiple competing priorities while maintaining a strict delivery timetable. Knowledge of email marketing best practices and tactics is imperative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, reviewing, and deploying email marketing campaigns in a timely manner
  • Management of editorial calendar
  • Design and implement direct email marketing campaigns
  • Proofread emails for clarity, grammar, and spelling
  • Ensure mobile-friendly email templates
  • Upgrade our email templates using graphics, personalization, and advanced features
  • Conducting quality assurance analysis of all email campaigns
  • Coordinating and organizing digital assets for email campaigns
  • Collecting and evaluating email reporting metrics on a weekly basis
  • Sending out weekly updates to the SVP, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, as well as the Associate Director of Digital Marketing
  • Organizing the content collection, review process and email distribution of monthly newsletters
  • Managing a database of subscribers and growing the mailing list in conjunction with VP, Data Analytics
  • Keeping up with the latest email best practices and marketing trends
  • Troubleshoot and fix any problems that may happen during the generation, deployment, and delivery of emails
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES

  • Proven work experience as an Email marketing manager or Digital marketing specialist
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Hands-on experience with HTML/CSS
  • Proficiency with content management systems
  • Proficiency in marketing automation technology
  • Knowledge of SEO/SEM and Google Analytics
  • Familiarity with analytical and database tools
  • Excellent written communication and copywriting skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of advertising and marketing disciplines including marketing systems, ticketing, and subscription-based sales.
  • Demonstrated superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate creativity, an innovative spirit, initiative, strong problem resolution, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and Word. Ability to learn other software programs as needed. Familiarity with Tessitura ticketing software or other types of customer databases is preferred. Familiarity with Wordfly Email Platform is also preferred.
  • Schedule flexibility and willingness to work some nights and weekends as needed.
  • Direct experience with a symphony orchestra and/or performing arts presenter highly preferred. A passion for and working knowledge of classical music plus.
