The MarCom Intern will split responsibilities across two teams, Marketing and Communications, working closely with the Senior Director of Marketing and the Director of Communications as well as other members of the BSO MarCom department. The primary focus of this role will be to assist in marketing initiatives as well as digital media & press relations for both our Baltimore-Area (Meyerhoff) and DC-Area (Strathmore). Tasks may include but are not limited to, assistance with newspaper and magazine advertising clippings, social media content, proofreading emails, magazine articles and press releases, curating advertising schedules, organizing digital files, website QA, events, and administrative duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of various marketing & communications strategies, campaigns, and initiatives
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance brand visibility, engage our target audience, and contribute to the overall success of our marketing efforts
  • Assist in the tracking of campaigns and earned media across various channels, including digital, social media, email, and traditional media
  • Coordinate the creation of communications materials such as graphics, videos, and written content
  • Assist in analyzing customer feedback and data to refine marketing approaches
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and promoting events such as grassroots marketing events
    • Coordinate logistical details, create event materials, and ensure a seamless event experience
  • Administrative Support:
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the marketing team, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and handling correspondence
  • Manage marketing databases, and filing systems 

QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms, content management systems, and basic design tools like Canva
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing concepts and metrics
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proactive, self-starting work style.
  • Adept at both addressing critical feedback and understanding the expectations of stakeholders.
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, and be able to participate successfully in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment.
  • A strong sense of conceptual, critical and creative thinking skills.
  • A background and/or interest in symphonic music is a plus.
