Open Rehearsals

Rehearsals are 2.5 hours, with a 20‐minute break about halfway through the rehearsal. The conductor may opt to stop and start the music, some pieces may not be played in their entirety, and some pieces may be skipped altogether.

Please note that while an incredibly meaningful experience, open rehearsals may not be a suitable experience for all students. It is, first and foremost, a working rehearsal for the orchestra and offers observers a window into that experience with professionals. As such, it is imperative that students understand and maintain rehearsal/concert etiquette.

If the open rehearsal sounds like the right experience for you and your students, please be advised of the following policies:

• All attendees must be in high school, middle school, or college. HS or MS students must be accompanied by an adequate number of chaperones.
• All attendees must be at least ten years of age.
• All attendees must be seated by 9:50 AM and are strongly encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the rehearsal start time. There will be no late seating permitted.
• Please refrain from leaving the Concert Hall during the rehearsal. Restroom usage should be before the rehearsal or during the designated 20‐minute break.
• Please put all devices on silent mode before entering the auditorium. Also, please note that photography and recording devices are prohibited while the orchestra is rehearsing.
• Food and beverages are not permitted in the venue.
• If students are assigned a project to complete during the rehearsal, please be mindful to not have papers rustling or other disruptive behaviors.
