Ticket Exchanges

If you’re unable to make it, you may be able to exchange your tickets for another BSO performance.

Here’s what to know
  • Exchanges must be completed by 5 pm on the day of an evening concert, or by 5 pm the day before a morning or matinée performance.
  • Exchanges are only available for events presented by the BSO.
  • Non-subscribers are charged a $5 per-ticket exchange fee.
  • Some restrictions apply and exchanges are always subject to availability.

To exchange online, visit BSOmusic.org/Exchange.

Subscriber note: Subscribers may exchange tickets at no charge. Subscriber exchanges are limited to the same concert season and are subject to availability and differences in price.

Ticket Donations

If you can’t attend, donating your tickets back to the BSO helps make those seats available to someone else, and your donation may be tax-deductible.

Donation Deadline: We’ll send a tax receipt if your tickets are received by 5 pm on the night of an evening concert, or by 5 pm the evening before a matinée.

Children and family-friendly concerts

We love welcoming families, and we want everyone to have a great experience.
Standard concerts
To help everyone enjoy the performance, we recommend our standard Classical and Pops concerts for children ages 8 and up. These programs are longer and include extended quiet listening.
Family-friendly concerts
Family-friendly concerts offer a more relaxed concert environment where movement and quiet sounds are more expected. All children are welcome, and these concerts are typically most enjoyed by ages 4 and up.
Child Tickets
All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Special pricing for children ages 17 and under is available for most concerts. Please check the event page for details. For more information about family programs and discounts, visit BSOmusic.org/Families.

Groups

Planning a group outing? Groups of 10 or more can unlock savings and a seamless concert experience.

Groups of 10+ are eligible for a 20% ticket discount for most BSO performances, and many group orders also qualify for a complimentary ticket for every 20 tickets purchased. You can reserve seats with a 10% deposit.

Your group can enjoy
  • Flexible reservation and payment policies in addition to exclusive discounts
  • Convenient patron drop-off and free motorcoach parking
  • A number of experiences, add ons and classes
  • Facility rentals of pre- and post-concert events

Group discount note: The group discount applies toward full price adult tickets in orders of 10+. Child price or other discounted tickets are not eligible for an additional group discount. Gala performances are not available at a discount.

  • Weapons of any kind are not permitted.
  • The BSO reserves the right, without refund, to refuse admission, eject, and/or ban any person whose conduct fails to comply with our policies.
  • Smoking is not permitted on our campuses and in our facilities. (The Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall is a smoke-free zone.)

Photography and videography: Bright lights from smartphone photography and videography are distracting once the house lights are lowered.
  • Please turn off flash.
  • Photography and videography during opening remarks and closing applause are appreciated.

Audio recording: Audio recording during BSO performances is not permitted.

Media Consent

Arriving at the venue + late seating

    When should I arrive?

We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the performance so you can get settled.

    • Meyerhoff lobby doors generally open 90 minutes before start time.
    • Strathmore lobby doors generally open one hour before start time.
    If you arrive late

We’ll seat late arrivals at a break in the performance, when possible. Patrons arriving after the start of the concert will be seated at suitable intervals, at the discretion of BSO staff.

To help create the best listening experience for everyone, we’ll make our best effort to escort you into the auditorium when the appropriate moment arises, but we cannot guarantee access to the auditorium or your designated seat once the concert has started.

Once seated, we ask that you please remain seated throughout the concert, because you may not be permitted to return to your seat if you exit the auditorium.
