Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Presents Handel’s Messiah, Cirque Nutcracker, CeCe Winans and More This Holiday Season

Baltimore (November 15, 2019) The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) presents a full lineup of Holiday programming this December at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore and The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, MD.

The BSO kicks off the Holiday season with a Family Concert of The Snowman on Saturday, December 7 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Associate Conductor Nicholas Hersh leads the Orchestra in the soundtrack to this holiday classic as the movie is projected on a giant screen above the orchestra.

On December 7 and 8, Edward Polochick leads the Orchestra and the BSO Symphonic Chorale at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Handel’s Messiah. After performing the oratorio together for over 30 years, Polochick and the BSO recorded and released Messiah, which includes the perennial favorite “Hallelujah” Chorus.

One of the finest vocal ensembles in the world, the Vienna Boys Choir performs on December 12 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program includes Austrian folk songs as well as popular holiday tunes. Please note that the BSO will not perform on this program.

Troupe Vertigo performs gravity-defying feats on stage for Cirque Nutcracker as Hersh conducts Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece on December 12-15 at The Music Center at Strathmore and the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

Grammy Award-winner CeCe Winans returns to the BSO for performances of Gospel Christmas on December 19 and 20 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Along with the Morgan State University Choir and Director Eric Conway, Winans and the BSO perform a program of Christmas favorites.

The BSO concludes its Holiday programming on December 21 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall with Holiday Spectacular. Led by Broadway conductor Andy Einhorn and featuring American Idol contestant Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, this program includes a piece by BSO bassist Jonathan Jensen that was inspired by Baltimore’s “Miracle on 34th Street” light display and the ever-popular tap-dancing Santas. Before the performances, the Meyerhoff lobby becomes a Winter Wonderland with a holiday market, decorations and photo opportunities.
