The BSO Gears Up for an Event-filled December

(December 6, 2023) – This December, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will host a series of celebrations of the holiday season at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and The Music Center at Strathmore. Embrace the festive spirit with an enchanting line-up of holiday favorites, from a unique Baltimore rendition of The Nutcracker to the cherished narrative of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Gather with family and friends for unforgettable performances that promise to be the highlight of your holiday season.

MIDWEEK: THE NUTCRACKER: A MAGICAL TALE IN MOUNT VERNON

Join the BSO and the Baltimore School of the Arts for a magical journey with The Nutcracker, reimagined in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon neighborhood featuring inspiration from iconic community landmarks such as The Walters Art Museum, Restaurante Tio Pepe, and even the Fireworks from the Monument Lighting This special performance, choreographed by Amy Hall Garner, features the talented dancers of the Baltimore School for the Arts, set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless music.

Discover the heartwarming story of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, brought to life through the live score performed on stage as the movie is played on a large screen. A holiday classic that explores the true spirit of Christmas, perfect for audiences of all ages. The Baltimore performances also include pre-event lobby festivities including delectable fare from Luigi’s Italian Deli, Little Havana, and Codetta Bakery, festive cocktails and mocktails at the bars.  BSYO student ensembles will perform classic holiday tunes, and fun and festive photo stations are in place to capture a picture-perfect holiday moment.

The Worship Live Holiday Tour features headliner Fred Hammond, with special guests Donnie McClurkin, Todd Dulaney, and Anthony Brown! Come celebrate the holiday season with this epic night of worship at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall! Please note: The BSO does not appear in this program.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Celebrate the holidays with the BSO and Holiday Spectacular. Byron Stripling is joined by the Baltimore Choral Arts Society for a program featuring your favorite holiday music. Plus, the ever-popular tap-dancing Santas return to the stage.

Hanson, President and CEO of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. “This season is more than just a series of concerts; it’s an invitation to come together and celebrate the enduring power and warmth of music. We look forward to welcoming audiences of all ages to join us in these memorable celebrations.”

In addition to the amazing programming, the Meyerhoff lobby will be transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with fun, festive, and free photo ops, holiday decor, local vendors selling delicious fare, and musical performances from BSO’s Orchkids and BSYO youth musicians before every concert.

The BSO also proudly supports Kennedy Krieger Institute’s mission to transform the lives of those with, and those at risk for, disorders of the developing nervous system. Now through December 31, the BSO is collecting unwrapped toys, craft kits and books for patients ages newborn to 21. Plush toys and stuffed animals are not accepted. Concertgoers can receive a free ticket voucher when they participate in the Toy Collection. Donations will be collected in the Meyerhoff lobby prior to each holiday performance.
